B&C 10HPL64 10" Neodymium Woofer
B&C 10HPL64 10" Neodymium Woofer is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from ExcellentI used this in its "Project Ideas" box, with a Selenium D210 horn driver (now D220) (SKU 264-271) and a Dayton 1600 hz (SKU 260-160) crossover. The horn driver runs through a Selenium HC23-25 (SKU 264-318) horn. I had to put the vent in the back (with the crossover) because the box is pretty small. Total weight = 35 pounds, using 3/4-inch plywood. I think the plywood is most of the weight. These speakers sound beautifully clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides Best Sounds EverI'd long forgotten what excellent sounds I now experience. These two woofers have provided the most pleasant experience with high quality sounds from television, tape deck, compact discs, and radio than I can remember.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great driverI built a three way cab., with an Eminence 3015LF also Neo and a Selenium horn and the B&C neo 10" sounds great in this configuration. I will use it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully Musical and clearAt this price you can't afford to not try them.Performance is excellent. Very good sensitivity means you get a big bang for your buck. The cast aluminum frame is rigid and dissipates heat well. With the Neodymium magnet, that makes this very lightweight motor for the amount of air it can push. You won't break your bank or your back with these beauties. They keep a tight low-end and a controlled high end... The Ferrari of loudspeakers... Highly recommended!

B&C 10HPL64 10" Neodymium Woofer

According to the spec sheet in PE, it states that this driver needs  0.36 ft.³ cabinet vented, while the B&C website states that the cabinet can be .96 cubic foot.  What is the right size?  What are the box dimensions for the PE spec?  The vent size?

Asked by: Bemopti123
Both volumes will work. B&C uses a larger volume to help overall extension which is common with these drivers, our design is based on what our program gives us without any hands on tweaking. The volume to use depends on what the application will be. If you want as much low end as you can get, the larger box will be best. If you want as much output as possible, the smaller cabinet will be best, tuned to a higher frequency. The internal dimensions for our cabinet recommendation would be 10.25" H x 10.25" W x 7"D with a 3" diameter port that is 5" long.

How well will this speaker work using the Dayton dta120 amp

Asked by: mcb1979
Due to the drivers high sensitivity this will work well with that amplifier, but it will still be limited in overall output. if this is for a home application that may not matter.

How well would this work with the small dta120 amp

Asked by: mcb1979
This will be able to achieve output above 110 dB with as little as 50 watts, so it should work well with this amplifier.

Would this woofer work in a Onken bass horn cabinet better than a Vifa 10"

I got a hold of a pair of Iwata 600 horns paired with a pair of Radian 1" compression drivers.I am crossing this drivers at around 1.5 K to the Onken bass horns with a 10" Vifa woofers that are now out of production. While the Vifa might reach down to 25 HZ, I am finding that I might need more output in the midrange section with more efficiency.I am using a Rane active 3 way active crossover and I am also using a Crown XTi 2002 amplifier for the bass bins.
Asked by: Bemopti123
Most likely this will sound better through the midrange. I don't know what Vifa 10" you have, but I don't know of any Vifa 10" ever produced that was meant to crossover as high as 1500hz. This is a pro woofer that is meant to reproduce sound up that high, so it should fit the bill better. Looking at the FR graph it will do pretty well past your crossover point. Also, if you are running bass bins you shouldn't miss the Vifa's extra bit of low end extension.
