Band-It Cherry Veneer 24" x 96" Paper-Backed
Band-It's premium Cherry veneer offers the quality and beauty that you would find on high-end speakers, but in a form factor that is cost effective and easy-to-apply. The paper backing allows the wood to bend without cracking, and makes the veneer easier to handle, trim, and glue. Just secure the veneer in place with contact cement or your choice of adhesives, and trim edges flush. Comes in convenient 2 ft. by 8 ft. rolls that have enough material for most smaller bookshelf speakers. If you've never worked with veneer before, this is a great opportunity to give it a try-- we're sure you will like the results!

Band-It Cherry Veneer 24" x 96" Paper-Backed
Band-It Cherry Veneer 24" x 96" Paper-Backed is rated 4.875 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ResultsThis was my first attempt at veneering and I must say it was easier than I expected. Other reviewers are right about the edge tape causing some issues but this will sand out. I used danish oil to stain. You can easily veneer, sand, stain, and assemble your project in a day. Keep your edge trimmer sharp or you risk tearing when going across the grain. Contact cement works great. Really happy with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cherry veneerI just used this type of paper backed veneer for the first time although i have been involved in carpentry/wood working my whole life. It's great to use, easy to cut, trims up well and adds a professional look to any job with a fairly even surface. You will find inconsistency between rolls with varying patterns and shades obviously due to timber variation as any woodworker will know as being normal, so you may want to use a timber stain to help match up colour if the job requires it.I will buy it again as the quality is great and so is the price.thank you P.E !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff except for the masking tapeI really like this product, I have used Cherry, walnut and the birch many times and it's always been consistent whth no big flaws. I have actually been able to work small flaws into the design of some projects. The way the boards are laid out small marks can mirror each other if you plan your cuts.I dinged the product one mark on performance because there is an annoying strip of masking tape that the manufacturer adds at each end. It's hard to peel off. If you are using a clear, non-stained finish you need to use a non-tape spot on the roll (not at the end) or hope it will sand out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ResultsFirst time doing a veneer; results are outstanding. My father, who is a very proficient woodworker said this veneer was of very high quality. I found the veneer easy to deal with and produced beautiful results over my mdf cabinets. Pieces needed much less overhang than I anticipated and trimmed well with a laminate trim bit in a palm router. It was easy to apply using standard contact cement and roller method; but probably requires two sets of hands for laying it down as the contact cement is totally unforgiving once the two parts touch. Be aware if using the odor free contact cement, some of it is tinted (in my case blue) and may leave a line at your edges. I finished this cherry by sanding 150, 220, 320 and then applying multiple coats of natural Danish oil with 0000 steel wool in between. Exactly the results I hoped for and will darken with age.My veneer roll only had three (small) downfalls: -The veneer was made from three boards along the width, and one of the joints was very distinct in one area because of the grain discontinuity-Being cherry, the wood naturally darkens with age and my roll had a dark area due to the viewing hole in the packaging; this sanded out easily-If you re using every inch of your roll, be aware there is masking tape at both ends of the veneer roll where the manufacturer cut it. This tape was difficult to remove without lifting grain. The final trick I found was acetone and a q-tip, applying it to where the tape meets the wood as you peel the tape back; this releases the adhesive really well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good stuff! My first attempt at laying up veneer. I used contact cement and found it easy to apply to the sides and tops of my latest speaker project (41" high x 8" wide x 11" deep). The single sheet just covered both speakers. I would have given all 5 stars but my veneer had two 2" knots in their book-matching. Luckily I was able to mirror them on the two speakers so I have matching knots down low on one side of each of them. All-in-all very nice looking cherry grain.

Finish veneer

I have a dresser that I want to make look better. I tried using a sanding machine but only make things much worse so I think I will put a veneer on it. I looked at Band-it in Lowes and it said all I do is iron it on. The only reason I did not buy it tey did not have cherry color.I have 2 questions.1. Two reviews talk about sanding? I thought veneer is a finished product and will not need sanding. This leads to question 2.2. If I have to finish the veneer, is sanding by hand or with sanding machine and must I use a varnish or something to give a shiny finish.thank you
Asked by: Ivanna
Real wood veneers require light sanding. Then apply a coat of varnish or verethane and let dry overnight. For best results, use fine sandpaper and sand again. Apply second coat. you will have a perfect finish. Or follow instructions that come with the finish you use.
