Aurum Cantus AC250/75C2C 10" Woofer
Aurum Cantus AC250/75C2C 10" Woofer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Tight BassThis is the best AC 10 inch which is the largest that would fit in my old cabinet. If the cabinet was just a half inch bigger, I would have gone with their 12 inch version, which is their top-of-the-line woofer and shares the same large magnet, 3 inch voice coil and low 23 Hz Fs. The high quality 11 inch frame is massive with a wide mounting flange which keeps the bolt holes away from the cutout. The internal cabinet volume is 1.4 cu ft and a 3 in dia port 20 inches long (Pringles cans and PVC elbow) was used to tune the cabinet to the drivers Fs. The results: A sweet sounding 3-way with deep, tight, powerful bass (absolutely no boom). The only reason I didn't rate Features Excellent is that a speaker of this high quality should have spring loaded terminals.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clean and preciseAdding this woofer is the last addition to a total rebuild of my 25 year old speakers. The wood and grille cover are the only original parts now. I replaced 12" paper cone woofers with these, a bit of a project to fabricate the inserts for the smaller 10" size, but worth it. The clarity and transient response is amazing. It is hard to believe the improvement in the speakers with this change. The sound is very precise, and brings out subtle nuances, but to me, compared to the paper, seems a bit lacking in soul or warmth. It may just be they need a little more time breaking in, to loosen up a bit. I do find it hard to pull myself away from listening through my music collection. From a physical construction standpoint, the speakers are a solid, thing of beauty.

Hi I'm planning to build two subs  I got interested in this one but I'd like to know if this woofer would work well as a sub

Asked by: luis44
This will work well as a music sub down to around 30 Hz.

I'm looking for a woofer to load into a 2x10 cabinet for bass guitar.  The client has asked for some specific parameters - #1, it must be sealed, 500w handling, and 2 cubic feet + / -  This speaker seems to work, on paper... what do you think?  Thank You.

What if I wanted to use this woofer in a vented box volume of 1.5 cubic ft. How would that impact vent size/tuning frequency/power handling?  Recommended or not?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Asked by: JCfogerty
This woofer will work well in that volume. I would recommend a port that is 3" in diameter and 12" long for a tuning frequency of 29 Hz.

What size sealed box?

Asked by: bigfishe
Recommended sealed enclosure for this woofer is exactly 1 cubic foot before displacement. This will give you an F3 of 66 Hz.
