Aurum Cantus AC-180F1 7" Woofer
Is the AC-180F1 7" woofer capable of producing very good bass/mids crossed at 3.5K or 4.5K, with a Dayton PT2C-8 planar tweeter in a two-way system?
If this is a workable arrangement, I would appreciate any input on enclosure size and type. Goal is to get full, round, articulate (not wall-shaking) bass, and superb mids to compliment the planar tweeter. To be used without a sub for now, but still allow for one later. The AC-130MKII 5-1/4" woofer (used as a mid) is available if the 7 incher doesn't adequately cover the bass/mid spectrum, and a three-way system is determined to be preferable. Thanks
The Aurum Cantus AC180F1 is a well designed accurate speaker as is the DA Planar. Since the planar comes in at 2khz., I would crossover at 4.5khz., with a 6db slope. You can enhance low end with a properly designed cabinet. If you opt for sealed box lows will be transiant and punchy. A small port will be a little less punch but deeper. It should be a good speaker.
