Aurum Cantus AC-130MKII 5-1/4" Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Woofer
Aurum Cantus AC-130MKII 5-1/4" Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Woofer is rated 4.5714 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from WELL DONE MIDWOOFER FOR SEALED BOXA high compliance and low Q and resonance frequency are a formidable mix of parameters due to obtain a little cabinet with great response and smootness. Use in "PANDORA" compact loudspeaker by AUDIOJAM2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Midrange ReplacementI used these to replace the mid driver in a 20 yr old 3-way system from Audio Concepts. They are crossed over at 250 and 4400 Hz.The company is no longer in business so an OEM was not available. This was about the only option I found with the sensetivity to match the rest of the system. I had to tweak the crossover a touch since these are 8 ohms and the original was 6 ohms. The response curve looks a little ragged past 4kHz but they are working out beautifully! Midrange is more detailed and mid-bass has more grunt than with the original driver. I also replaced the original tweeter with a new Seas design (from another vendor). The system sounds better than it ever has. I'm glad I was able to DYI instead of dropping a few Gs on a whole new pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Aurum Cantus AC-130MKII 5-1/4"I got one at the tent sale for $25 and the other for full price. Very detailed. seems to be easy to work with. I have a radio shack first order crossover right now and it sound great with the SB 29 at2500hz. Price seems high to me. I like the AC drivers but not the price.howard

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my speakers from the scrap heapI just installed the Aurum CantusAC-130MKII 5-1/4" Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Woofers along with a new silk dome tweeter into my old Infinity 2001 bookshelf speakers. I used the factory crossovers that are set at 4700 but I may experiment with a lower frequency. I also lined the relatively small enclosures with foam and added a little poly stuffing. Wow, they sound huge. Very clear throughout the entire spectrum. Great bottom end for such a small speaker!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Clean MidbandI am using these in a (dipolar) MTM configuration with the AC G3Si ribbon tweeter. I am using an active crossover (nothing fancy, a dbx 223xl)and a Rogue Atlas 50wpc EL-34 amp for these drivers. Based purely on listening I have ended up with xover points of about 70Hz and 5.5Khz. I agree with the other customer's comment that these guys can't go much higher up without becoming "shouty". WARNING: These drivers sound awful right out of the box (as do most really good ones!) but after a week of use they are already getting a bit "warmer and rounder". I know from prior experience with this brand that run-in time tends to be long....so I am optimistic that in a month or two they will be fully "oriented". These mid/woofers have excellent dynamic snap...plucked acoustic guitar strings explode from the speakers. Their micro-detail portrayal is also very good, with plenty of low-level information resolved. I cannot speak to their LF performance since I am not feeding them a low bass signal, and since my chosen dipole operation would kill any bass fed to them. At the sale price I paid for these last year (about $45) they are an excellent value. In my dipole MTM application as a midrange, these sound excellent, with exceptionally low distortion.

The component(s) you'd use for your crossover depend upon the frequencies you wish to use for the individual drivers. We do have a page to assist you in choosing the components once you arrive at the crossover point(s) for your design:http://www.parts-express.com/resources/crossover-component-selection-guide.cfmWe also have pre-fabricated crossovers which may be of interest to you:http://www.parts-express.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CAT_ID=48&ObjectGroup_ID=193http://www.parts-express.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CAT_ID=48&ObjectGroup_ID=194

I bought this driver but it's stopped working - or at least it works intermittently - when I take the cover of and press edges.

Can the unit be repaired in any way or should I just replace it. There's clearly some bad connection inside.

send it back! bad connection of the flex leads ( soldier) or bad voice coil . unless you have overpowered it and blew it's voice coil . check your wiring and Amp for problems
