from nice soundThis is a great speaker! I have bought a lot of other brands(seas, scanspeak, peerless, vifa) and I probably have 10 different 5 inch speakers(much more expecive than this). This is the best so far. It has really good dynamics, the only one with good midbass smack I think, and it sounds smoother than most with a natural sound and good detail. Maybe the T/S parameters isnt right, but it is still one of the best I think, no mather what the numbers are, this speaker sounds great!

from Small Package BIG Sound!I have compared many of these 5.25'' mid bass drivers and even used a few. I was rebuilding my M&K SB1 design that had dual Peerless KO10DT tweeter & 5.25" dual drivers per cabinet. It is a TTMM configuration. I wanted a cleaner sound with lower bass output. I tried the Peerless 83065 drivers with some satisfaction. I bit the bullet and got 4 of these AC130 F1's. I choose them due to the fairly flat responc, roll off extention and good power handling. The fact they had edge wound voice coild, heavy cast frames and Kapton former did not hurt either! These are quality made drivers. With some T-nut relocation, a bit of hole elongation, I got these to fit up nicely. The first thing I noticed was the exceptional midrange clairity and focus. Female vocals, drum cymbals, piano, organ, & other instruments took on a life of their own. It was an obvious tonal improvement. The bottom end bloomed a bit more- once broke in- and the electronic hand off at 150hz & 2500hz, at -24db/oct ,was pure magic, very smooth. This driver is the cleanest sounding in its size class and a good choce for the sonic perfectionist. The not so good news is its price. Theyt are expensive, but you do get all you pay for. Once you listen to the mid bass clairity and sonic impact these offer then the price becomes easier to accept. If you are demanding exceptional mid bass performance with good power handling in a 5.23" package give these a serious consideration. You will pay more but rest assured you will receive excellent sonic value. This IS my driver of choce!

from Excellent for what I use it for!I used this driver in an open baffle design from 500 hz to 3000 hz. Let me say, I've never heard such a transparent, beautiful, accurate, and good imaging speaker before. By only spending $380 for the drivers in my front speakers, I can say the sound dominates anything I've heard to date. Including my dad's $1000/pair of Infinity Beta Speakers. I love the sound and I can't wait to finish my 7.1 speaker setup with these wonderful drivers as the mid range. Thank you Aurum Cantus for such beautiful, amazing drivers, for high quality on a budget.

from Solid Car Audio MidI used this in my car doors with custom wood mounts. It has about 125w+ RMS driving it. Its being Driven with a PPI 500ix amplifier(aka monster). Its clear clean and knocks my old MB quart mids out the door. I run it bandpass at 120-3k and its performed phenomenally. The system in my car is Tri-amplified so i don't know how well the speaker behaves with passive crossovers. with active ones though its amazing. A lot of people who have heard my system cant believe that its a 60$ mid playing that clean and smooth of a sound. The highs i have are no name that are 20 years old. I will be buying this mid again for my back speakers once i make a mount for them with a tweeter aswell.

from Great Midrange Driver for 3-wayThis driver is being used as the midrange in a 3-way setup with the Aurum Cantus AC-180F1, Dayton PT2C-8, and the Dayton 700/5.6k crossover. To be honest, the driver is actually really detailed, but the has some breakup between just over 5k and the 5.6k crossover point. I'm sure I can "tweak" that out by rebuilding the crossovers myself, but it is a little harsh sounding. I would recommend either addressing this issue with the driver in your crossover or use a lower crossover point (maybe at 4.5 or 5k). As far as sound quality goes, this is an absolutely amazing mid - vocals are precise and controlled, and the soundstage is immense! Other reviewers have indicated that the Fs is higher than AC and Parts Express has listed, but I haven't used it in a larger enclosure on woofer duty, yet. Highly recommended as a mid!

from SPECS ARE MISLEADINGI completely agree with the last review. I was doing some testing in a small t-line. I couldn't figure out why I had this drastic drop-off at 50hz. Then I finally test the woofers parameters a second time and realize the Fs is not even near the claimed 38hz. I tested it to be 52hz!Clay Huff
