ART SLA1 Power Amplifier
ART SLA1 Power Amplifier is rated 3.9091 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK amp in a 1U for price, intolerable fan noiseI can't say if the fan noise existed from the beginning, but for the past few years the fan is VERY loud in this amp. The amp works fine but I'm looking for another amp since the noise is disruptive in my studio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact is GoodThese are heavy and may not be the best for road use, after all, it's called a studio amp. With careful handling I use them in a portable PA rack and for bi-amped speakers. The fan gets noisy under load because of the small size, so that could be a problem for some. This new one has a nice feature that was not there ten years ago; the gain knobs retract and can be covered with included faceplate to reduce tampering. The sound is great as should be expected for analog circuits.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Noisy FanThe SLA1 has been my go to 1U amp for years, but too many times customers have said, "What's that noise?" when the amp turns on and the noisy fan starts to spin. This fan would work great if music is playing somewhat loudly, but if the amp is located in a quiet studio, the fan asserts itself. Combined with the obnoxiously bright power LED that has persisted in this design for quite some time, and I am looking for a new amp.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did Not Perform to ExpectationsI was looking for an affordable single RU amp to drive my studio monitors, something that was quiet and delivered adequate power. The paperwork is the most minimal I have seen with any product, but installation was no problem. The first thing you notice when you turn the unit on is the extremely annoying blue LED. The second thing I noticed was the loud cooling fan, which is unacceptable in a studio rack, unless the rack is in another room. And lastly, the reason for returning the unit, was a buzzing noise coming from channel 1. I ended up going with the Behringer A500, even though it is a 2U, due to the lack of a cooling fan and good reviews. I have already installed the A500 and am much happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another satisfied userClear sound, no audible noise to the speakers, and the fan is whisper quiet.Yes, that blue LED is really bright, even through the smoked glass door of my rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Power Amp 1 RUI have this amp mounted in a SKB short rack with my Digitech GSP 1101. I use it to drive 2 8 ohm Guitar Speaker cabs with Eminence Texas Heats that I built myself. It is quite loud but at the same time does not color the tone at all. The GSP comes shining through and the amp models are great through this amp. I have had mine for a little over a year and had not trouble with it. My biggest complaint is that the only outputs are banana connectors which I hate because the connections occasionally come loose. The other issue is that it is just short enough to fit in the short SKB rack leaving little or no room to reach around it.I've noticed with mine that when you first power it on, the fan bearing makes a little bit of noise until the unit warms up. After that, it is pretty much silent running. I don't hear any extraneous noise coming from the amp itself. I like this amp personally. It was given to me as a gift and I have had good luck with it.
