ART CLEANBoxPro Stereo Balanced/Unbalanced Converter

The CLEANBoxPro provides two channels of unbalanced to balanced level conversion and two channels of balanced to unbalanced level conversion in a rugged, compact, and portable unit. Balanced lines offer increased immunity to external electrical noise, such as hum. Since a balanced system minimizes induced noise, it is the preferred method of connecting audio gear, especially when long lengths of cable are used. One section of the CLEANBoxPro converts two channels of consumer-level unbalanced input signals into two channels of pro line-level balanced output signals. It has two RCA jack inputs and a stereo mini-phone jack input connected in parallel. The balanced output feeds two XLR male jacks. The other section of the CLEANBoxPro converts two channels of line-level balanced input signals into two channels of consumer unbalanced output signals. It has two XLR female input jacks. The unbalanced output feeds two RCA jacks and a stereo mini-phone jack connected in parallel. Each section has stereo level controls to optimize signal levels. An LED indicator lights when power is applied.

The CLEANBoxPro can be an invaluable tool in application areas including (but not limited to!): home or professional recording studios, live sound, PA, permanent installs, DJ, AV, consumer Hi-Fi, podcasting and broadcasting. The CLEANBoxPro can be used with: mixers, audio processors, laptop computers, computer sound cards, CD/DVD players, video gaming machines, MP3 player/recorders, powered monitors, and digital audio workstations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic for interfacing computer to mixer!I bought it for the express purpose of safely connecting my PC's stereo 3.5mm TRS inputs and outputs to my differential mixer. (Polycom Vortex) Having both signal directions and 2 channels each was really helpful. One box was all I needed. It made getting the signal levels correct a snap. I feels very solidly made but please pardon me for not trying any crazy drop tests. The XLR inputs are do not have locking jacks so if you are concerned about cables being pulled you may want to consider some surgery on the box. The XLR outputs do accept locking connectors though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problem Solver!!!I have having issues running a pro audio amp in my home. The issues were i was getting feed back from the speakers while they were idling. The gains had to be set much higher at about 75%. With this Art CleanBox Pro i was able to set gains under 50% with more output and not feedback at all. Even if i max the gains no feedback from the subs.I would definite buy again!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What More Do You Need? When I first opened the box I did not know whether to look at the manual or what? But it's a little self explanatory when you look at it further. It's great for matching -10dB consumer leval audio to pro XLR connectins required by the rest of my rack gear , only my mixer/multi track recorder has unbalanced RCA jacks on the outputs. It's very clean sounding, does not color your audio in anyway, quite no hiss at all even at full gain. All in all a great piece of equipment if you need a bal/unbal-unbal/bal converter. And ART makes quality stuff. This is built to last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gives you more Amp optionsIf you have the desire to use a pro amp at home. This is a nice little device. You can just plug you tablet or ipod into this device and use XLR cords to connect the device to the pro amp. It has an output level knob for volume control which is handy and provides a clean noise free balanced signal to the amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything I ask of it.First of all, I'd like to state how I use it and what I've been able to achieve:I have connected the home audio level outputs (-10 dB RCA) of my uDac to the unit, connect a pair of balanced xlr cables between the unit and a DCX2496.Previously I was unable to get a full +4 dBu signal to come out of my home audio device(s) for the purpose of maximum signal to noise and control within my pro audio DCX2496, i've also tried a portable music player, but since getting this device I have gotten nothing but strong clean input to my DCX. The output volume controls are also handy in case you want a more fine control on your DAC. My only gripe about it is the standard 9v power supply seems a bit flimsy for road use, so keep that in mind (that it needs power for the transformer, good for isolation but annoying for connections). Still, the unit itself feels decently solid and It is about half the price of the competition. As long as you know what you need, you can't go wrong with this product.

ART CLEANBoxPro Stereo Balanced/Unbalanced Converter

I'm trying to use two, low-impedence microphones into a 1/8" stereo mic. input on a digital-camera. Will this work?

Asked by: DrDave
Technically, yes you can but you should bring the two low impedance microphone signals up to line level as assumed the digital camera input is a line level signal.

First off, excuse my ignorance. Are the control knobs on here volume controls or gain controls? I'm planning on playing my phone on this, sending the signal to a sub amp and a full range amp.

Asked by: joshs9
ART only labels these as output level knobs. I would assume they are gains but it would be a complete guess. I would recommend contacting ART directly to confirm this.

Hello, would this be a solution to clean the sound when I record from our digital sound board to our sony nex vg20. We want to use the 1/8 stereo input on the camera. Also recommended were the juicelink ra222, and the beachtex dxa-6.

is unbalanced output boosted?

the EP4000 amp has an unbalanced input. could i use this to boost an unbalanced signal so that i dont have to use xlr cables?
Asked by: Brian6751
This unit only converts balanced to unbalanced signals and vice versa, in order to use the RCA inputs you have to use the XLR outs.
