Amplified Pocket Speaker NXT Powered is rated 3.6786 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the moneyCan't understand all the belly aching about this "little / inexpensive" speaker. It's tough and plug it in to your iphone and is works well. It's not 100 watts with 15" woofer but it's a little inexpensive speaker and sounds pretty good. Loud enough so people I ride up on hear me coming and get out of the way. Can ride for 3 to 4 hours and hear it well and not get into trouble for wearing ear buds or headphones. The cable should be longer but other than that you get a nice little speaker for $10. You want killer, then fork up the bucks and stop winning

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Helps Netbook Sound Better, Not Rechargeable Bat. Friendly! This is a significant sound improvement over my Netbook's tiny built-in speakers or smart phone speaker. The cable is very short so it is a bit annoying that it must be right next to anything it plugs into.I'm also a rechargeable battery guy & this drains through those batteries pretty fast 6-8 hrs. tops with steady use. It starts to distort at lower & lower volume levels as the AAA batteries die.Recently I pulled this back out of a box & started experimenting with it running of a single 5000 mAh 18650 Lithium-ion battery. It is an amazing difference. The speaker can play notably louder on the Li-ion without distorting & the green power light no longer dims as if it is being underpowered. Also, in my experimenting the batteries which were not fully charged (4.0 not 4.2VDC) to begin my experimenting lasted no less than 4 days of heavy use.(No I did not take it apart since it looked like it was going to damage the speaker. I used a long flexible rubber spacer in the battery compartment with metal contacts on each end to connect my external battery to the Red Fury.)If it had the performance & battery life I get with the Li-ion battery from the factory I'd give it almost 5 stars. Without it is not nearly suitable / practical to run on AAA batteries & be used as much or as loud as I want to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice for amateur radio useI use this device as external powered speaker for a small HF radio, a TenTec HB1B. It is almost the same footprint. It does an excellent job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good enoughThe sound quality is not bad for the size... and at that size you can only go so far. Its actually better than an Insignia stereo speaker set I bought with basically the same driver configuration. And it's much better than you cell phone/tablets, and probably better than most laptops. It's slim and fits in a bag easily. I wouldn't call it the most attractive or durable device, but again for a cheap solution it does a great job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the moneyI purchased 2 of these (for my 18 and 23 year old kids) I was a bit skeptical that these would perform well at all for their size. I was surprised when I heard them for the first time connected to their I-Phones! They re-produce quite well in the lower frequency range for their size. I'm guessing they are rolling off sharply at about 100-150 Hz. The mids and highs are clear and bright. For the investment, and size, they're a winner!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't fall for 2+ star ratingThose that have left a three star or even two stars want you to get stuck with this item just as they have. this is junk pure and simple. this so called amp will not boost audio signal beyond what the source is so don't waste your cash on this junk. Shame on you Dayton.

Amplified Pocket Speaker NXT Powered

How big is the actual NXT speaker/element in this amplified speaker--is it 3" by 5"? Thanks

Asked by: DIYGURU
The speaker element itself is roughly 2-1/4" x 4" and the overall size of this speaker system is 4-3/4" x 3-1/2".

is this stereo or mono and wattage?

Asked by: speakerfreack
This accepts a stereo signal and converts it to mono through a single speaker. Unfortunately wattage is not specified since this is self amplified.
