5" Paper Cone Midbass Shielded Woofer 8 Ohm

This 5" treated paper midbass woofer with foam surround was designed for use in home theater speakers. A free air resonance of 85 Hz, combined with a Qts of 0.88 and Vas of 0.15, make this speaker great for use in both large ported and sealed tower-style enclosures. A 1" aluminum former provides great heat dissipation for the voice coil, creating good power handling.

5" Paper Cone Midbass Shielded Woofer 8 Ohm
5" Paper Cone Midbass Shielded Woofer 8 Ohm is rated 4.4286 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed feelingsI ordered two of these to replace the woofers on my center channel speaker as the foam surrounds had rotted away. i opened the box and immediately noticed one woofer was defective, the voicecoil wasn't centered and the speaker sounded HORRIBLE. Not sure if its a manufacturing defect, or if it was dropped at some point before i received it. The woofer that did work sounded pretty decent for the 8 dollar price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great price, weak highs/midsGreat price, but that's about it. I bought this to test for a PVC-pipe guitar amp hoping it would do full range well. It doesn't. Definitely needs a tweeter, and even then the mids might be weak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speakers at a great priceI bought these to replace some in bookshelf speakers. They came promptly, at a reasonable price, and appear to be of good quality. FWIW, the frame is round and my old ones were square, so I had to make a minor adjustment, but not a problem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great replacementBought this driver to replace a blown Aiwa driver. The fit was very close. Connections were the same. Upon initial installation, in my opinion, I thought the bass was slightly weaker compared with another Aiwa driver but still sufficient. This is a great value. If you are looking for a replacement driver on the cheap, you will not be disappointed.

Would this be a good speaker for a small guitar speaker cabinet - possible two drivers in ported enclosure?  If so, what dimensions or sq. ft. and port number/size?

Asked by: davidjohn
These should work well for a small, low output practice cab. I would recommend a sealed enclosure instead of ported, that is about 0.3 cubic feet for both drivers.

Hello, I am looking to build a custom enclosure for this 5" woofer and a 1" tweeter (Goldwood GT-510 1" Soft Dome Tweeter). Should I build a sealed or ported enclosure? What should the volume of the enclosure be? What crossover should I use?

Asked by: Steven L
I would recommend keeping this sealed in about 0.25 cubic feet. It will work well with that tweeter, a good crossover would be below.http://www.parts-express.com/speaker-crossover-high-pass-8-ohm-5000-hz-100w--260-175

How do I know uf I have the right size specker. The measurement form side to side is 6in and the paper is 5 in.

Asked by: cliff225
If the frame diameter of the speaker you have is 6", you will want to look for a 6" speaker. The dimensions are listed for ever model we offer, so you can compare to make sure you are getting the right size.
