44-Key LED Control Unit with IR Remote Control

Create custom lighting effects with this 44-key IR remote control and LED control unit, that's specifically designed to work with 12 VDC RGB LED light strips. Adjust brightness, color, fade in/out, and flash rate. Supports up to five meters of RGB LED light strips. Other tri-color, common anode LEDs may be used if configured to work with 12 VDC supply voltage by the use of voltage dropping resistors. IR remote control uses a CR2025 battery (included). Requires 12 VDC power supply (not included).

Specifications: • Power requirements: 12 VDC, 2A (minimum recommended), 12 VDC, 6A (with max current draw from each of three LEDs) • Power input: 2.1 x 5.5 mm, center positive • Output: Three CMOS drain-open output • Connection type: Common anode • Control unit dimensions: 63 mm (2.48") L x 35 mm (1.38") W x 22 mm (0.87") H.

Note: To use the DIY memory keys, press the desired memory key, use the up/down red, green, or blue arrows to adjust to desired color, then press the DIY memory key again to store the color. Due to the IR operation of this product, it is possible for remote controls of other devices to inadvertently change LED settings.

I am trying to connect a LED strip in my van with this controler , hooked it into my dome lights 12v dc power. It lights up blue right away but the remote will not change anything? I hook the same set up to my ac/dc 12v and the remote control works fine?

Asked by: smitang
I got it figured out. I was tapped into my coutesy lights and was only getting 11.? volts at that spot. Enough for the lights to go on but not operate. I found another spot to tap in with 12V + , works fine there : )

Can someone give me the dimensions of the controller. I was really curious if I took off the plastic case. I have a very limited amount of space to install the controller into. Thank you

Asked by: jimmygjr
Dimensions of the controller are 2-3/4"L to allow for wires and mounting tabs, 1-1/2"W and 7/8"H.

How to attach 320-315 PS

I am planning on using one PS for two units. It appears that the 12VDC female is 2.5MM what gage wire do I run from PS to unit for 12 feet? I see you have 2.1 mm screw terminal adapters but not 2.5. Can I use the 2.1mm? or should I solder the 2.5mm connectors if wire required will fit?
Asked by: Hornetmonkey
You will have to use the 2.5mm solder connectors and I would recommend 18 AWG wire for a run that long.

how water resistant is the remote it self im planing to use this outside by the pool if the remote goes for a swim will it be alright?

out door use worried about rain and or remote fallin into pool
Asked by: monkey99
The remote itself is not water proof or water resistant. It would probably not survive a dunk in the pool or being left outside unprotected in the rain.

The recommended power supply is marked obsolete. New recommendation?

Asked by: mburnett
The power supply I would recommend for this controller would be the 120-056.

Is there a way to have three separate sets of lights?

I want to use this for my entertainment center and I want to have three separate sets of lighting so that each section can be it's own color. For instance, the shelves be one set, the cabinet be one, and the back be one. I could purchase three control units, but since they probably have the same frequency, I can't see how I could have separate control over each one individually. Do you have any recommendations? Like maybe a product I could buy that I could change the frequency on?
Asked by: TurnItUp
The only way you can really pull this off is to simply have the control boxes as far away from each other as possible and have the remote within a few inches of each receiver when you want to change colors. We have no way of changing frequency for the remotes or control boxes.

If i have the power supply plugged in an outlet that is turned on by a light switch, will this unit remember the previous color it was on?

Asked by: onic
The memory function "should" be handled by the remote which has the battery. Additionally, programs should be stored in RAM which is non-volatile for when you do a battery change. Therefore, the on-off switch should be no issue. However, the documentation doesn't state what we have assumed to be very common practice in today's electronics. At under $10 - it would be a good gamble to give it a try.

could one remote be used to work more than one power suply

i want to hook 4 of them together
Asked by: kylesch
Yes, one single remote can be used to operate more than one controller at a time, so long as the IR "eye" for each controller is visible to the remote.

How fast (slow?) is the fade?

What is the slowest possible fade between colors with this controller? Most controllers don't offer speed change functions, and fade too fast for relaxation.
Asked by: mossadacity
Due to the nature of the fade function, I was unable to accurately time this function. There are controls for faster and slower, and I set it to as slow as I could. It is difficult to say when one color is fully changed to the next. However, it is quite slow, in my opinion. Somewhat mesmerizing, in fact. I'd say the transition from one color to the next takes at least several seconds. I apologize that I cannot be more precise than that. I will see if I can get a video posted in the near future, I believe it would be useful.

Can this be used with 12V from a Car? And if so what is the recommended way to install?

Asked by: Jimbo15482
The remote control runs off a battery. the little white box is a RF receiver. The lights themselves are described as 12 volt which likely indicates it could be used on an automobile. There is a huge diffrence in brightness between these sort of lights and the ones we use in public safety, probably a lumens diffrence of 1000%.
