44-Key LED Control Unit with IR Remote Control

Create custom lighting effects with this 44-key IR remote control and LED control unit, that's specifically designed to work with 12 VDC RGB LED light strips. Adjust brightness, color, fade in/out, and flash rate. Supports up to five meters of RGB LED light strips. Other tri-color, common anode LEDs may be used if configured to work with 12 VDC supply voltage by the use of voltage dropping resistors. IR remote control uses a CR2025 battery (included). Requires 12 VDC power supply (not included).

Specifications: • Power requirements: 12 VDC, 2A (minimum recommended), 12 VDC, 6A (with max current draw from each of three LEDs) • Power input: 2.1 x 5.5 mm, center positive • Output: Three CMOS drain-open output • Connection type: Common anode • Control unit dimensions: 63 mm (2.48") L x 35 mm (1.38") W x 22 mm (0.87") H.

Note: To use the DIY memory keys, press the desired memory key, use the up/down red, green, or blue arrows to adjust to desired color, then press the DIY memory key again to store the color. Due to the IR operation of this product, it is possible for remote controls of other devices to inadvertently change LED settings.

44-Key LED Control Unit with IR Remote Control is rated 4.6667 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great controllerGreat Controller with many different color presets and effects. I bought this 44 button controller because I bought at the same time, the 5m strip leds and part of this package was the basic controller with no user creatable presets. Also, the basic does not allow you to dial in the color. Both of these things, in my opinion are pretty important. I'm just a lighting guy after all :) So, that being said, this controller definately gives the user all the control over the leds they could want and from a pretty good distance with the remote. The only thing I would remind anyone who is considering purchasing this is that you do need to have a 12V DC 2.5mmX 5.5mm plug power source for this. This is not provided in the box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Mixer, No SequencingIt's important to keep in mind that this thing is incredibly inexpensive. It has excellent RGB color mixing capabilities and 6 custom color memory buttons. It has a play/pause button, which gives you the false impression of sequencing capabilities, but the only sequences available are simple preset color rotations. Nonetheless, you can slow down these preset sequences, the fades are very smooth and quite impressive. I'd love to be able to set my own simple color fades. In the end, this is a great static color mixer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ProductThe LED light strip was used on my entertainment center, underneath the shelves where it can't be seen, and around the edge. Looks fantastic, you'd think it was there from the factory. Adds nice lighting to that corner of the room.Remote has lots of effects, but I most often use the various color controls, and the brightness buttons. Will probably use the lighting effects (flash, fade, etc) for parties, Christmas and other events.Remote works great from the other side of the room. I hung the sensor down just a bit where it wasn't completely blocked, but it still can't be seen yet works nicely.

If i have the power supply plugged in an outlet that is turned on by a light switch, will this unit remember the previous color it was on?

Asked by: onic
I wanted to know the answer to this myself so I bought one and the answer is: Yes, yes it does remember the last setting it was on

Logitech harmony remote programming

I want to be able to control this unit with my harmony universal remote. Is there a manufacturer and model# that I can use to find the profile in the harmony data base
Asked by: davidblack83
I use the Harmony One. Whenever I run across situations like this, I usually create a "generic" device. I select whatever comes closest and then take the time to rename the device, create custom buttons and then program each button via the original remote. It's a huge pain in the .... but it works!

Can this be used with 12V from a Car? And if so what is the recommended way to install?

Asked by: Jimbo15482
I would recomend using a 12V regulator since autimotive electricity is actually 13.8 VDc. a 7812 regulator is only $1.00 from Parts-Express, ( and simple to connect. I would be glad to send you the instructions for connecting it if you want.

Is there a way to have three separate sets of lights?

I want to use this for my entertainment center and I want to have three separate sets of lighting so that each section can be it's own color. For instance, the shelves be one set, the cabinet be one, and the back be one. I could purchase three control units, but since they probably have the same frequency, I can't see how I could have separate control over each one individually. Do you have any recommendations? Like maybe a product I could buy that I could change the frequency on?
Asked by: TurnItUp
The only way you can really pull this off is to simply have the control boxes as far away from each other as possible and have the remote within a few inches of each receiver when you want to change colors. We have no way of changing frequency for the remotes or control boxes.

What power supply do you recomend for this product?

There is no power supply that comes with the product.
Asked by: Ricktor
That recommended power supply looks nice and all, but only meets the minimum requirements of 2 Amps. What happens when you try to run the whole 5 meter string at full power?

How fast (slow?) is the fade?

What is the slowest possible fade between colors with this controller? Most controllers don't offer speed change functions, and fade too fast for relaxation.
Asked by: mossadacity
I have not placed this against a stopwatch, so I cannot give you an exact time, and their is little technical information as this is an inexpensive LED item. However it does have a speed control up/down which will make the fade pretty slow. It is a fairly smooth fade which may take a few seconds, and it seems as the scene (color) may then last a little longer. It is definitely good for just chilling out and not being obnoxiously fast.If you require specific timed fade chases I recommend you look at control via DMX512. You will then be able to accurately control scene and fade times. This will cost considerably more.
