Product Details

4% Silver Solder 1/2 lb. Spool

Why bother spending more on high-end speakers and boutique crossover components to only have their sound dulled by standard lead/tin solder. Silver solder consists of 4% silver and 96% tin to provide greater electrical conductivity than standard solder and allows miniscule microphonic signals to make their way through the crossover and to your speakers. Signal distortion is also said to be reduced when using silver soldered joints, and performance is optimized at all frequencies for consistent, exact sound reproduction. Halogen-free flux allows for working with precious metal surfaces with little to no degradation. Lead-free.

Specifications: • Melting temperature: 422.6°F/217°C • Solder diameter: 1.0 mm Spool weight: 1/2 lb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST!I have used every conceivable brand of silver bearing solder, and find the "P.E" silver solder to be the best!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lead free silver solderThis solder works great. I was unsure when I received the package with it stating that this solder was lead free but the quality and thickness of the solder is very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product.I purchased this product for use in repair of RF producing products; primarily for the higher melting temp and silver is great for conducting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used 40w ironUsed a cheap 40w radioshack iron to solder balanced XLR cables with great success. Cables sound great. Coated wire and contacts with extra flux and had zero flow problems. 40w may be a bit too high for electronics, but obtained great flow and great looking joints with this wattage. My 25w iron was not melting the solder.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DissapointedFirst let me state that I am a long time PE customer and have been very pleased with the products and support. This solder has a high temp melting point whichin my opinion is not good for any kind of electronic/cable making work. It alsocools to a dirty gray color which does not instill much confidence. I have gone back to Cardas Quad Eutetic which I like better than WBT. I'll relegate the PE solder to sweating pipe joints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price for Silver / Lead Free SolderI have used a lot of these reels (15+) and they are great value for money and give a good solder joint. It would be even better if a smaller gauge solder reel was offered as I find that some jobs require a thinner solder wire. Will continue to purchase these...Thanks!

Is this the best solder for re-wiring speakers?

Asked by: Barry69
Best is subjective, but this will work fine for that application. Standard 60/40 solder will also work.

im not sure which solder would be better to use the silver or the 60/40 stuff for xlr , rca banana plugs and spades.. these products would have electro plated gold to solder to.. would be great to hear why one is better than others thanks

Asked by: deltadoggy
Either option will work in the same way, there is a very slim chance you will hear any kind of difference between the normal 60/40 solder and 4% silver solder. I use 60/40 for all of my soldering regardless what it is, so whether the difference in price is justified will be up to you.
