Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spend the extra money for something betterIt was smoking for the first few minutes of use. The metal casing part turned black. I might be a newb when it comes to soldering, but the tip would oxidize before it was even hot enough to melt the solder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for occasional useI've only used this twice. If I were doing a lot of soldering I would spend a little more for a nicer one. Cord is short and stand is cheap. That being said, if your like me and only solder once in a while, why spend more money? Works great for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good IronThis is very good cheap iron. It heats up fast. Delivery from parts express was very fast. The power cord is small so you might need to buy an extension cord.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from For under $5, what do you expect? This purchase was to replace a Popular Mechanics iron that I bought a few years ago at Wal-Mart. That line no longer carried in my local WM. I had hoped for about the same quality but it was actually inferior. The handle gets hot and the cord is quite short. It's OK for an occasional use but if you plan to use your iron frequently, spring for something better.
