from Perfect for DIY remote shutterThe cable I received has four wires, all connected properly to the contacts in the plug. The cable is more like 3' in length... although I was happy to receive one only 12", as advertised, I'll be able to use the extra length. The plug fits perfectly in my camera's remote shutter port.

from Still Misrepresented (Headset Adapter ONLY) NO MICIn November someone else had complained about the NO MIC wire, there are only wires for each speaker R/L and the shield ground. With new cell phones if someone calls you the phone will pickup but you will not be able to speak to them as the phone expects the MIC from the headsets when used, you can't use speaker phone mic built into the phone. Now as to the connector assembly for just headsets works very well though you'll have to strip and tin your wires as they don not come pre-tinned. One more thing I didn't really like was the wires are 32ga AWG or smaller and I'd prefer a larger diameter wire. Why haven't they cleared this MIC issue up since November 2008? Very poor handling by the sales people if you ask me!

from Use standard headphones on new mp3 cell phonesI just bought a new HTC Smartphone from Verizon. It comes with a mini USB adaptor that accepts the new 2.5mm 4 conductor plug for headphone/microphone combos. All of the headphones that Verizon sells for this phone sound bad in my opinion. I wanted to use my new noise cancelling headphones with this new phone but could not find an adaptor to go from the 2.5mm 4 conductor jack to the standard 3.5mm 3 conductor headphone jack. This plug allowed me to make the adaptor myself. Very Cool!! I understand that many of the new cell phone/MP3 player combos use the same 2.5mm plug.
