Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as weatherproof/longlasting as BoschI used Bosch brand relays, made in Germany, for 15 years under car and truck hoods and motorcycle fairings...then I gave these Tycos a chance. They're made in Portugal, so a different manufacturing facility with a different design altogether, so I wouldn't say they're comparable to the genuine Bosch relays at all. They lasted two years strapped up under my motorcycle tank with slight exposure to the elements. Once my high-powered headlamp began working intermittently, I had a look and these are corroding from the inside of the relay. (See photo) Maybe the use of dielectric grease or silicon around the contacts is all they need to make them last as long as the Bosch relays.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great except for one thing.First, I'll list the bad thing, before going into the good. The bad thing is that two of these do NOT fit side by side in the interlocking type relay sockets, when they are interlocked. The reason is the relay has a slightly flared bottom, which is wider than the standard space. It can be fixed with some sandpaper and some time. I just wish I had know about it before hand. The good, MUCH heavier and more solid than ANY other relay I have used (excluding other Tyco/Bosch relays). Very durable, excellent construction. If you plan on using relays in an automotive setting such as a wiring harness, accept no substitute. These are HANDS DOWN the best for automotive uses. These are better than the cheap chinese/taiwanese knock-offs, better than the Hella relays, etc. Accept no substitute.

Is this relay a dual-87 output? Or is it 87 and 87a?

Asked by: jjsilver
SPDT=single pole, double throw, so it would be 87 and 87a.87 is NO, 87a is NC.

What are the physical dimensions of this relay, in mm?

For motorcycle application, insalled between top of frame and underside of gas tank. Existing relay is 23x23x23 mm
Asked by: phliparoonie
This Bosch relay measures 28.5 mm cubed and the tab adds to the cube height for a total of 43.5 mm from case base to the top of the tab not including the connnectors. This relay is a true standard for industry because it is reliable. It also has an internal diode which does not allow cross talk if used in conjunction with audio / electrical control circuits.

Just wondering how much power the coil draws on these relays

Asked by: Erack
A complete datasheet from Tyco is available, the link I found is too long to include. Simply Google "V23234-A1001-X036 datasheet" and select the second link in the list.
