After reading pages of reviews, I had concerns about the following: poor packaging, speaker box construction, muddy sound and poor quality speaker wire spring clip conections. As soon as my SUB-120 arrived, I noticed that it could not have been packaged any better. Thick styrofoam at all 8 corners and a very heavy-duty cardbord box. The sub was in perfect condition when it arrived and the cabinet appears very well built(thick MDF). Overall fit & finish is EXCELLENT at this price point. I quickly connected it to my receiver with some speaker wire in a 20'x20'x9' room. I am running the sub with a pair of Acoustic Energy bookshelf speakers. The spring clips are cheezey, but they work. Most high end subs don't even include speaker wire connections(now I know why). This thing has no problem pressurizing my room with bass. The auto-on function worked, but the auto-off funtion did not hooked up this way. I also had some trouble getting the sound dialed in just right. I finally took the time to read the instructons. Dayton recommends that you use the low level RCA inputs to connnect it. I connected it with a stereo RCA interconnect cable and left the music on for 3 days to let the sub burn in. The sound was great and the bass was powerful and tight(not muddy)when adjusted properly. The sub was much easier to get dialed in now and the quality of the speaker wire spring clips was no longer an issue. The auto-on/auto off function now works perfectly. I only use the sub for music and it sounds great with plenty of headroom for home theater explosions. Don't expect a 12' sub to fill in upper bass and midrange for tiny ceiling and satellite speakers. It's a SUB-woofer people!(Did you ever see a loudspeaker with a 12" mid-range driver?)This product does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it well. It provides deep bass and plenty of it. Stop thinking about it and buy this sub! You would have to spend over $350 to get something better than this.

I have owned this well over a year now, and have made some upgrades to this unit over this time.
I changed the amp out to the Dayton SA240 240W plate amp, has the same footprint as the original amp. then later i changed out the woofer to the 12" Titanic Mk III Subwoofer. all i can say is WOW! you have to hear the difference.
