5" x 8" Indoor/Outdoor Horn

I'm using one of these as a hand-held hailer on my boat, and it works great....water-proof, VERY loud, so loud in fact that you have to turn the radio's volume down a lot or the PA horn will feed back...and it's got great sound quality...very intelligable,..of course voice-frequencies are pretty easy for any speaker.

My VHF has a hailer circuit for broadcasting Fog Horn and warning tones built in to the radio (Uniden UM525), and it's also for yelling boat to boat, which is particularly useful in emercencies where you are responding to a boat in trouble, or you're the one in trouble and you're trying to explain what's wrong to another boat 30 or 40 feet away out on the open water....your voice will seemingly dissapear out there on open water...you'll find yourself yelling at the top of your lungs and they'll barely hear you.

But I didn't want a permanent mounting out on deck, that people would be tripping over, so I decided to make it an "as needed," temporary installation.... so I installed a 1/4" female jack in the cabin bulkhead, connecting it to my VHF's hailer output (bare wires), positioned the base of this horn in a "verticle" position as a handle, and soldered a 10ft. length of 16 gauge speaker wire to the leads coming from this P.A. horn, soldered a 1/4" male plug to the other end, and protected the solder-joint of the horn's leads by wrapping a bit of foam around the "handle," with the wire-joint running underneath, then duct taping the foam.

Works great....and cheap too....I think I've got a maximum $20-$25 in materials invested.

He wanted to put a loud speaker in his truck, when I found and ordered this one I didn't tell him. He got it in the mail in like 10 days I believe. He mounted it and he loves it. It sounds great to so inexpensive, and small. I'd recommend this product to anyone. For those youngin's like my hubby who want sound in your car/truck this loud speaker works great.
