Dayton SUB-100 HT Series 10" 125 Watt Powered Subwoofer

I'm no pro, but this sub is excellent for the price. I keep it set at 3/5 volume and there is plenty of base for my 25x25 basement. The auto on/off works great. I'm using the sub with an Onkyo TX SR507B receiver and Polk RM10 surround speakers. The surrounds don't go that low, so the sub has to carry the load up to 160 Hz, and it does a great job. Sounds excellent with all kinds of music (very important to me) and has all the punch you need for movies. For $100, it can't be beat. The only thing I'd like to see is more protection for the speaker. The cover is just fabric with no solid backing.

This subwoofer might do well if you are using it for your surround system to supply sub frequencies, but DO NOT use it to supplement your in ceiling speakers. I found it to not complement the roll off of in ceiling speaks so well. I replaced it with a Sony 10" that looked better, and was a little smaller in cabinet size. It gave me the perfect match to my ceiling speakers. I was not actually looking for a sub woofer, just a woofer to widen the dynamic range of my ceiling speakers. This sub has plenty of power and punch if you want to hear the erath move. I think that is what most people expect a subwoofer to do. I wanted something that could be adjusted to makeup what my 8" ceing speaker could not do. This is not it.

This is my second time purchasing this sub. I redid my basment and didnt think twice when the choice for a sub came. I have had one in my living room for 2 years now and am quiet pleased with its performance. After reading some of the pro forums, i was weary it wouldn't fill the room, but boy was i wrong. My living room is 13x20 and it rocks the walls when i want it to. It also performs great at night when i keep the tv low. For the price, you just can't beat this sub.
