Dayton SUB-80 8" HT Series 80 Watt Powered Subwoofer

I was looking for a subwoofer for a second, small listening area and the sub80 made my short list of 8 inch subwoofers. Based on reviews here and the direct-to-consumer pricing, I felt I had little to lose. My main purpose for the subwoofer is two channel music playback although it will serve as part of a 5.1 system eventually. So far I have been pleased with the musical performance of this subwoofer as it supports my Magnepan MMGs, which go down to 45hz on their own, without being overly present or boomy. The gain and crossover dials provide a good level of control over the presence of the subwoofer.

One oddity is that at first the auto setting would cause the subwoofer to shut off unexpectedly. This behavior resolved mysteriously on its own and the sub is working as it should.

In short, for the price you can't go wrong with this subwoofer.

Needed a small subwoofer for my den sound system and this fit the bill perfectly. Does everything one would expect from a good subwoofer and you can't beat the price. Very pleased with my purchase
