Goldwood GW-1858 18" Pro Woofer

I think everyone who bought these is afraid to admit they purchased a pair of the cheapest 18's available. But I'm not. I enjoy building and listening to and reviewing all kinds of speakers, even cheap ones! And these deserve their chance at a realistic review. Hey, if they're good enough for Martin King, they're worth a try. They are actually quite good in an IB with low power. A great way to get the bottom octave on the cheap for your home. I broke in the pair in open air. I maxed them out @ 50 watts RMS @25 HZ and never bottomed out. But they're end use was PA. A motown cover band I work with wanted to fill out their bottom end, but were strapped for cash. I put the pair in 6 cubic ft. sealed boxes. I added passive crossovers, 100 hz low pass on the sub, 60 hz hi pass to the tops, so they could run the stacks from one 600 watt/channel amp. They sound surprisingly good. The band loves the convienience of the single amp solution. They have enough bottom to bring the kick drum to life in smaller gigs. As of this review they have been using them for 8 months, with no complaints, and lots of compliments. Don't be afraid to try these for your low budget solution. You might be surprised.
