Out performs most. Easily the best in its range.

Changed the woofer out on 301 speakers, and the frequency response and clarity is a tremendous improvement. Several modifications are required to enlarge the existing cabinet opening and soldier speaker connectors to the existing cross over. However, a worth wild upgrade if you want to upgrade your 301s for a reasonable cost. I now use these speakers for one of my home theater systems.

I am normally a bass reflex kind of guy. I have built multiple pairs of speakers over the years. I had a pair of NAD 20 (or 200 not sure) cabinets with trashed drivers that I had kept around to reuse. Nice walnut veneered, one cubic foot mini towers. The internal volume of the cabinets matched these speakers exactly in an acoustic suspension set up. So I wouldn't need to drill and mount a port. Also they were to be used in my jewelry studio, close to where I sit and at low volumes while I work. Unbelievable clarity of sound. Rich full sound stage. Would recommend these to anyone. I have them hooked to an AudioSource AMP-100 and if you need the room to shake it's no problem. Yet if you have them at a whisper they are as clear and sharp as a bell.
