This is a very high quality product and a great value. be sure its what you need and read the comments and response from P.E. I cant use this for my application, this is only for very specific applications of component to vga not the other way and not just any way! Not all types of video are interchangeable! Don't get mad at P.E. if you did not do your research!! I failed to do my research but this is a quality product and P.E. is a great company.

I purchased 2 of these to use a DVD Player on a Computer LCD screen and the screen would not even begin to sync using the cable. Perhaps this is only designed to work in reverse from a Computer to a Component Video OUT, which in that case it should state thats whats its designed for so that I may choose another product that WILL work.

The 181-700 is not intended to allow you to watch DVDs from a DVD player to a computer monitor. The 181-700 cable just "adapts" it doesn't convert. Nearly all computer monitors need an RGB signal, as compared to the component (Y, Pr, Pb) signal that a DVD player outputs. To view a component signal on an RGB monitor requires a transcoder, which converts the component to an RGB signal. However, many projectors and rare monitors will accept a component signal via their HD-15 (VGA or RGB) port. This is one of the primary uses for this cable. For the cable to work your display it must accept component inputs.
