Dayton PMA250 250W PA Module with Mixer

I bought two of these PA modules to install in
two of my home built stage monitors to reduce the
amount of equipment I have to haul to small
venues. I had designed the monitor cabinets so
the backs were big enough to mount these modules.

Initially, I had some concern about heat build-up
in the monitiors because they are filled with
polyfil for damping. It does not seem to be a
problem because the amps seem to run faily cool.
These amps provide plenty power for the 12-inch
woofers in the monitors which are rated at 175 W
RMS and have a SPL sensitivity of 97 dB re 1 Watt.

Another good thing is they don't seem to be affected by having the speaker disconnected during
use. I tried it, expecting the fuse to blow or
something. When I reconnected the speaker and the
amp was still going. Very reassuring.

My only real concern is that the level and tone controls may get damaged because they are not recessed in the panel. I am considering adding
some sort of cover to protect them. I also
noticed that these amps do output some quiesent
noise, but it is very low and quite acceptable
for their intended use.

All in all these amplifier modules seem to be a
good product and fill a real need. I intend to
purchase several more to install in the other
two stage monitors I have. I am very pleased with these amplifiers.

an output limiter. I don't know why Dayton puts limiter circuits on their sub plate amps, but not the PA amp.

Need to check quality of rivet compression at fuse contact. unity did not turn on when first recieved. Needed to shim under rivet to complete curcuit. Very poor design. Never compress a rivet to a contact with plastic in the middle. Plastic takes a set and the unit will cut in and out.
