Dayton DA175-8 7" Aluminum Cone Woofer

Pretty Clear, Precise, and 'Dry'. I've used them as a midrange, and as a woofer. Low-end definition is nice (not perfect) works fairly low...for surround sound home theater, monitors using these as woofers, would ideally be augmented by a sub. (if the cabinet is right the bass is impressive) I'm most impressed by one thing...linear movement...the cone is rigid and the suspension is easy as true...for this price, it's a very well engineered product. As a mid fills the bill...can span the gap from a very good woofer (15") to a very good tweeter, and produce the mids with clarity and very good sound pressure for a medium size living room. In my application the Dayton 7" Aluminum as a midrange, the mid excels over my other two drivers. In fact I've already upgraded the tweeters, and crossovers, and looking around for a great 15" woofer.

the good: it sounds good. i replaced my klispch with these and i hear no difference.
the bad: it doesnt sit flat down. the speakers have an edge that makes them a little difficult of placing them down.

Well, it really sounds nice, good range. But really, you have to admit that it is a sexy speaker. Tight.
