Awesome for the price

This is a pretty hefty woofer for the price. As other reviewers have stated the upper mid-range area can grind on your ears a bit but it's nothing that a lower crossover point and/or an equalizer can't fix.

In short if you need an inexpensive replacement woofer with decent sound quality this is what you need to buy.

Good budget midbass

Parts Express Customer from Unknown Location

I had this in the doors of my 93 Accord.

General impressions: these are very crisp sounding and really surprised me for the price. However, to make the most of them I would definitely recommend a subwoofer to take care of sound below 100Hz, as well as a (relatively) powerful amp to drive them as they are power hungry. You won't hear much from these below 50Hz, so if you want some door shakers I would definitely pass; however if you have a sub that gets a little high these would be a great match.

I ran these with 6x9s that served as subs, which were lowpassed around 150Hz. They worked great. I do wish they had more low end though.

Bang for the buck
Thursday, July 9, 2009
Jesse Crane from Iowa

I bought two of these to use in a D'Appolito designed tower flanking a Vifa AC25TG05. Used with a 2-way crossover with a cross point of 1800 hz. Due to the high QTS value, I used a large (2.9 cu. ft.) cabinet as a common space for both woofers. Cabinet was ported to a Fb of 35 hz. Surprisingly these give ample bass without distortion. Maybe it is the bump in the frequency response around 200 hz that is imparing my listening judgment, but these seem to have decent bottom end (I am guessing you will need a large cabinet and low tuning frequency to get this low however). In all I am impressed with this sub $20 driver. I was a little afraid of the 2 mm xmax listed, but like I said, it handles low frequencies without large distortion (would still recommend using a HP filter of 60 or 80 hz). I emailed Goldwood to double check the T/S parameters, and they turned out different than what PE listed in the description and the CLIO values.
